Carole Suzann Harman Sweezy 76, Indianapolis, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Carole's first love and top priority was always her family; being a wife, mother and grandmother came first. Carole's next love was sharing her Yoga abilities which she did for over 26 years with students ranging from ages 5 years to 95 years. She loved working with seniors and elders including those disabled and those suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's in healthcare facilities. She was also an astute business woman and entrepreneur and was CEO/Manager of Innovative Investment Co and Sweezy Real Estate Co from the mid 1970's until 1996. She was co-owner of several other family owned businesses of which she took an active role. Carole was an active civic and political volunteer including PTA (President), Scout Leader, Little League, Community Hospital Auxiliary, Americana Nursing Home, Marion Co Convalescent Home, Indianapolis Senior Center, The Hermitage, Oasis where she was nominated for volunteer of the year award in the mid 1990s,and Warren School Screening Community. She was active in the Republican party for many years serving as Vice Precinct Committeeman, Precinct Committeeman, Acting Ward Chairman, Assistant Township Chairman, and Delegate to the State Convention. She attended several national conventions and various headquarters. She served as a Volunteer, Manager, Coordinator, Campaign Coordinator, Special Events Chairman and Election Day Volunteer. She was a member of the Millersville Chapter #300 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She graduated from Manual High School in 1954 belonging to the National Honor Society and performing as an accomplished Gymnast representing Manual in a number of competitions. She attended Indiana Central College, Indiana Business College, IUPUI and IU. She was a licensed Real Estate Salesperson, Certified Yoga/Meditation Instructor, Health Therapist, Reflexologist, Reiki and Spiritual Healer. Hobbies included oil painting, writing, poetry, traveling, boating, gardening, reading, horseback riding and piano lessons. She was a great lover of animals. Carole is survived by her loving husband of 56 years John W. Sweezy Sr; sons John W. Sweezy Jr. (Susan) and Bradley Sweezy (Tammy); Grandchildren John W. Sweezy III (Christa), Kimberly Sweezy, Chris Sweezy (Jamie), and Stephanie Sweezy; 4 great grandchildren Skylar, Donovon, Alexia, and Rose; as well siblings Richard Harman, Bill Harman, Mike Harman, Phyllis Shannon, and Linda Smith. Friends may call from 11 am-2 pm on Friday, August 24 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis with a Funeral Service beginning at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road Kanab, UT 84741 or the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 North Michigan Road Indianapolis, IN 46268.
