Carole Virginia (Figg) Linder, age 93, of Indianapolis, passed peacefully during the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Carole was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 16, 1933. She was the daughter of the late George B. and Melba L. (Hail) Figg.
Carole was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She was a talented photographer who adored capturing images of her family, dogs, and natural scenery. In her leisure time you could find Carole crocheting or crafting birthday cake art for family and friends, one of which featured in the Indianapolis Star. Carole also found solace in taking drives, specifically around Big Walnut in Putnam County.
Carole will be remembered by all who knew her as a sassy, vociferous, kindhearted woman, who was resolute and proud to be a 49-year recovered alcoholic with the unwavering assistance of faith and family. Carole curated many collections including lapel pins, dolls, and a carefully amassed set of 49 Sobriety Tokens, along with mysterious hair samples saved at special moments throughout life.
At the age of 60, Carole reentered the workforce, joining the crew at McDonald’s on the corner of Holt Road and Morris Street until the age of 80. For 20 years her regular customers gravitated towards her bubbly personality, gifting her with lapel pins while she served her community smiles and Happy Meals! McDonald’s provided a stage for Carole’s dynamic zest for art, displaying her handmade holiday decorations year after year.
Carole’s life and legacy will be remembered by her children, Clifford Dale, Steve Frazee, and William Ailes; she is preceded in death by siblings, Shirely (Figg) Heaton, Robert “Billy” Figg, & Tommy Figg. She is survived by sister Patricia (Figg) Cokane; grandchildren, Chiloh D. Williamson, Danny Williamson, Brett Ailes, and Dravin Ailes; and her great-grandchildren, Axl Williamson and Owen Ailes.
A Graveside Service will be held at Floral Park Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in memory of Carole to ASPCA or Wounded Warriors.
