Carole Kay Windhorst

Carole Kay Windhorst, 84 of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday September 23, 2021. She was born on May 29, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Merle and Mervin Pearl Horton. Carole worked for Community Hospital East for many years. She retired after more than 30 years of service.

Carole loved to travel and spend time outdoors. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Carole had a quick wit, and enjoyed reading.

Carole is survived by her daughter, Annette L. Merlau; step children, James Windhorst and Herta Baird; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister; and four brothers. She is preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, William H. Windhorst; daughter, Sandra K. Vance; grandson, Daniel R. Vance; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday October 7, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229), where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Masks will be required inside the funeral home.
