Carole Anne Trout McDaniel
Born March 1, 1937, she passed away on March 31, 2022 in Indianapolis. Carole was the daughter of Mary Jane Shute and of Gordon Moore Trout. She attended Broad Ripple High School.
Carole began her career in the broadcasting industry in 1960, then the home of WISH – TV, Channel 8. Carole assumed the duties of two jobs, one as secretary to program production manager, one as film manager programming 21 movies a week. She had a strong work ethic, advancing to the position of co-producer of a public service show entitled CROSS EXAM. In 1964 Carole moved to WTHR (then WLWI). She was the first administrator to the news director and general manager. She was one of the first 5 directors to start Channel 59 in 1984.
Carole was a true big sister, in service to her Big Brothers Big Sisters community organization. Carole cared for cats, including feral, as many as 6 at one time. Carole was a devoted reader with the First Church of Christ, Scientist, serving as librarian in the Reading Room and member of the executive board.
She attended Jordan College of Music. As daughter of a musician, she took an interest in booking talent, starting her own company known as CAT Music Bookings (Carole Anne Trout), producing gigs in Indianapolis. Carole enjoyed her seasonal home in Miami, as well as boating on Geist Reservoir.
Carole is survived by sisters Katie Trout Anderson (Jay), Martha McDermott (Norman), cousin Hamlin L. Shute, III (Joyce). A loving family of nieces and nephews including Dahlia Flakus (Jeff), Emery Anderson (Kristi), Sarah Iezzi (Paul) and dear children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry McDaniel, and all 20+ of her beloved cats.
