Carol S. Rightor

Carol (Boyce) Rightor, 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on May 19, 2025. She was born to Roy Boyce and Shirley (Hacker) Boyce on April 25, 1949. Carol married Albert C. Rightor on April 16, 1982. They were married for 28 years until Albert’s passing in 2010.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She selflessly devoted her life to caring for her daughter Angela who is down syndrome. She was known by all who met her as an extraordinary hostess whose door was always open. Every holiday was special, and she made every guest feel like family. Carol had a deep passion for genealogy, lovingly tracing the threads of her family’s history and preserving stories that would otherwise be lost to time. Her scrapbooks were masterpieces of memory- filled with photographs, handwritten notes, and treasured keepsakes. In her garden, Carol cultivated beauty and peace, tending to flowers and plants with the same care she gave to everyone in her life.

Patience was perhaps Carol’s most remarkable trait. She listened deeply, gave generously of her time, and met life’s challenges with grace. Carol’s legacy is one of love, family, and devotion. She will be deeply missed but always remembered.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Shirley (Hacker) Boyce; husband, Albert Rightor; sons, Scott Brown and Richard Rightor. Carol is survived by her siblings Karen, Buddy, Cindy (Gregg), Mary, and Richie; children Angela, Mandi, Chris, Carol (Ron), Cathy (Chuck), Jon (Nancy), and Rachel (Brian); as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and her beloved cats Shelby and Cookie.

A visitation for Carol will be held from 5:00-8:00pm Tuesday May 27 at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. A short visitation will take place the following day from 10:00-11:00am with a service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
