Carol Anne Meister

January 25, 1945 — August 26, 2025

Westfield

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Carol Anne (Hoy) Meister, 80, of Westfield, Indiana was peacefully called home by her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2025 after a brief illness, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 25, 1945 in Harvey, Illinois to Lenore Theresa Hoy and Arthur Eugene Hoy. Carol was a proud graduate of Kelly High School, as she was the first member of her family to graduate from high school.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her three siblings, Kenny, Barbara, and Lorraine.

Carol is survived by the love of her life, Bob Meister. Carol met Bob on September 30, 1962. Her best friend from grade school, Ethel McPherson, set Carol up on a blind date with Bob, where they had a picnic and went horseback riding. That was the very beginning of their long love story. Bob and Carol were married on February 12, 1966 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Carol is also survived by her four children: Cary Strycker, Todd Meister (Kimberly), Jody Chin (Eric), and Scott Meister (Angela); 11 grandchildren: Clayton Strycker, Sarah Strycker, Aubrey Chorpenning (Garrett), Brynn Seigel (Ben), Tyler Meister (Lexi), Grace Meister, Cole Meister, Alex Chin, Abby Chin, Mei Chin, and Adam Chin; and one great-granddaughter: Faye Chorpenning.

Carol was deeply committed to her faith, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carmel, Indiana. When Carol was very young, she would attend church by herself. She never wavered in her faith, and she continued to attend church her entire life. Carol publicly professed her faith and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church on March 22, 1959. Carol always assumed she had been baptized as an infant, but had no verification. Consequently, she chose to get baptized on May 15, 2018. Hers was the last baptism performed by Pastor George Ferch prior to his retirement.

One of Carol’s favorite activities was spending countless hours at her dining room table working on craft projects. She loved every step of the process: planning, purchasing supplies, creating, and ultimately gifting to her family and friends. Carol had a stockpile of craft supplies at her home, and her family liked to joke that she single-handedly kept Hobby Lobby in business.

Carol ensured that all of her children were baptized as infants, and she and Bob brought them up in a loving Christian manner. She opted to be a stay-at-home mom because spending time with her children and creating a warm home life was very important to her. She created a comfortable, calm, and loving atmosphere for her children. Carol had a fantastic sense of humor, which translated into a home full of playful banter and lots of laughs. Further contributing to this happy environment, Carol took the time to decorate for each individual holiday and season, although fall was her very favorite. She truly was the heart of her home.

The love Carol had for Bob and her children was unparalleled. That is, until she had grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate all her family members’ birthdays, anniversaries, and accomplishments, as she always remembered to send a card and gift to commemorate these occasions. Carol was generous and thoughtful, and regularly sent care packages not only to her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, but also to her granddogs. Carol’s love for dogs began with her first pet, a dog named Teddy, when she was a young girl. The way she treated her friends, family, and pets throughout her life is clearly an indication of her loving and compassionate heart.

Visitation will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1484 W. Main Street, Carmel, Indiana on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 2:30 - 3:30 pm. The funeral service will take place at 3:30 pm, meal to follow. Carol is already very deeply missed, but we look forward to the day we will see her again in perfect glory.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool in Carmel, Indiana.
