Carol J. Kocher
81, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 19, 2015. Carol was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 15, 1933 to Joseph and Carroll Murphy. Carol's parents, brother, Earl Murphy, and sister, Roselyn Murphy preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Ray Kocher, of Indianapolis. Other survivors are sons, Kevin, (Bev) Kocher of Indianapolis, (grandchildren, Sean, Khara and Katelyn), and Scott, (Diane) Kocher of Madison, Indiana, (grandchildren; Dustin, Brandon and Nichole), and three great granddaughters.
Carol graduated from Broad Ripple High School in1951. She received a BA from Butler University in 1963, and was awarded a Masters of Library Science (MLS) from Indiana University in 1971. Carol was a member of Delta Kappa Gama International Society and Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Carol served as a language arts teacher, and media center specialist for Indianapolis Public Schools throughout her career. She was also a member of The Indianapolis Museum of Art, and Indianapolis Zoological Society.
Services will be Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at 1 p.m. with calling from 11 a.m. in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, with Pastor Al Goertemiller officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3650 West 106th Street, Carmel, Indiana 46032.
