Carol Kramer (nee Cowgill), age64, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Carol wasborn in Gary, IN on December 13, 1951. She went to Marquette Elementary Schooland graduated in 1969 from Wm. A. Wirt High School, Gary, Indiana. She receivedher B.A. and MPA degrees from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1973 and1978, respectively, and a Bachelor's degree in interior design from ButlerUniversity.
Carol grew up in the Millerneighborhood of Gary, IN. There shedeveloped a lifetime passion for the water, beaches and the Indiana Dunes. She returned to the area, throughout herentire lifetime taking her son Eric to many beach communities in Indiana andMichigan. Carol worked in Chicago andSan Francisco before choosing to live in Indianapolis.
After working for the State Budget Agency, Indiana General Assembly, and several other publicsector organizations Carol formed C. Kramer & Company, a small woman-ownedmanagement consulting firm. She did grant writing and project management,generating over $100 million in grants for a variety of organizations inIndiana. She has previously served onthe board of the StorytellingArts of Indiana non-profit organization. Above all, her greatest pride, joy and success in lifewas raising her son Eric.
She will be missed by her lovingfamily, and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by her father, ColinCowgill and mother, Madeline Cowgill. She is survived by her son, Eric Kramerof Indianapolis, IN; sister, Colette (Jim) Cowgill- Eligator of Chicago, IL;brother, David (Gail) Cowgill of Munster, IN; and nephew, Paul Cowgill of SanFrancisco, CA, as well as her aunt, Joan Scully and cousins: Madeline Lott,Marianne Kilkenney, Sharon Harig, Susan Scully, John Scully and Tom Scully.
Visitation will occur at Flannerand Buchanan-Geist (7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis) from 4-8 pm on Sunday, August21st, and from 10-11 am on Monday, August 22nd. A Mass of Christian Burial willtake place at 11:30am on August 22nd at St. Simon the Apostle Church, 8155Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis.
