Carol Ann Fine

January 27, 1947, to July 13, 2023

She was the wife of Gary Fine. She was pre deceased in death by her parents Henry and Laverne Fehrenbacher. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy “Caz” (LD) Culberson and Jennifer (Jim) Wilson, her grandchildren, Emily (Riley) Buchanan and Brian (Kate Lane) Culberson as well as her brothers Randy (Phyllis) Fehrenbacher and Bob (Vicki) Fehrenbacher.

Carol grew up in Olney, Illinois, where she graduated high school and attended Olney Community College. Before her daughters were born, she taught second grade at St. Mary’s in Mattoon, Illinois. When her children were young, she was a religious teacher as well as a girl-scout leader.

She returned to school at the University of Michigan in her early thirties. After completing her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, she worked for St. Vincent Hospital and Ascension Health in Indianapolis.

She was a 25 years member of the Indianapolis Hiking Club and belonged to Indy Dancers Club. She was very active and could be seen walking the neighborhood or biking at Eagle Creek Park. One of her favorite things was to see the sunset over Eagle Creek Reservoir. She and Gary went to many local hiking events as well as hikes in Gaitlinburg and the State parks in Indiana.

Before Covid isolation, she regularly attended the Garden, an extended community of the Indianapolis United Methodist Church.

She passed away at home after months of caring during her short illness by her loving husband, Gary.

There will be a memorial gathering (10 to 12) and celebration of life (12 to 1) on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
