Carol Ann Glassing born October 4, 1942, in Indianapolis, IN was sent to her eternal home on May 30, 2025, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's. She was the beloved daughter of Selma (Vawter) Glassing and Roy Glassing, now reunited in God's kingdom.
Carol, affectionately known as Nana to many, was a teacher of sorts nearly her entire life. She took great pride in her work with children at Taylorsville Elementary in Columbus, IN for many years before becoming the Belzer Middle School Secretary in Lawrence Township, Indianapolis. When not in a school setting, she took to the water to teach her family to waterski or help them learn to read.
A striking woman with a pleasant smile, she shined greatest when surrounded with family. Her love of nature and country life was instilled as a child growing up in New Palestine, Indiana. It was there she learned farming from her father, sewing from her mother, and the value of an honest day's work from both.
Carol is survived by her sister Edith (Larry) Woodworth and daughters Laura (Stu) Grenkowicz and Amy (Douglas) Parrish. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Carol was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother Elmer (Sonja) Glassing and beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her journey on this earth was marked with a gentle nature and a strong belief in God and we ask that you remember her not for the disease that impacted her, but rather the way she lived her life. She loved her garden and plants for many years but was best known for mowing and maintaining the best lawn in the area.
In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to give to the American Alzheimer's Association, visit a loved one, offer someone the gift of time, or adopt a dog as Carol always loved her dogs.
In standing with Carol's modest nature and simple pleasures, the family will hold a brief service at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, Wednesday June 4th,where family and friends are encouraged to share a memory or impact, she had on their life. Her visitation will begin at 1pm, and her funeral will begin at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
