Carol A. Broadwater, 84, of Carmel passed away May 20, 2021. She was born August 31, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana the daughter of the late Lester and Mabel (Detamore) Caupp. On August 25, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Terre R. Broadwater. He preceded her in passing on February 5, 2013 after 54 years of marriage.
Carol was a speech therapist who loved working with children at various school systems throughout central Indiana. She was a member of Castleton United Methodist Church and the Ball State Chapter of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was an avid gardener, florist, and loved animals. She especially enjoyed the company of her cats, most recently Milo.
Carol was a loving Mother who is survived by her daughter, Laura Kafka and her son, Steven (Cassandra) Broadwater; her five granddaughters, Holly Scaggs, Emma Kafka, Sydney, Jessica and Kaylen Broadwater; her brother, Richard (Marisue) Caupp, and sister, Virginia Gullion; and her sister-in-law, Patricia Caupp. She was preceded in passing by her son, Jason C. Broadwater; her brother George Caupp; and two brothers-in-law, Clancy Gullion and Jack Broadwater.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite). Friends are invited to gather from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hamilton County Humane Society.
