Carmen Dolores Hansen

Carmen Dolores (Rivera) Hansen 88 of Indianapolis died August 12, 2011. Carmen was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Jose Heraclio and Matilde (Maldonado) Rivera. Carmen was educated by the Religious of the Sacred Jesus. Carmen was a school teacher where she taught at St. Michael and St. Monica Catholic Grade Schools. She was the first woman teacher at both Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School in Indianapolis and Creighton Jesuit Preparatory High School in Omaha, Nebraska and also on the college levels. Carmen was a devout catholic where she was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Opus Dei, and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Carmen was preceded in her husband Dr. Niles M. Hansen Jr. Calling will be held on Monday August 15, 2001 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 3354 West 30th Street Indianapolis 46222 from 5 to 8 PM with a rosary at 7:45 PM. Mass will be held on Tuesday August 16th, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Survivors include her children Niles M. (Rhesa) Hansen III, Joseph R. (Dana) Hansen, Carmen (Geoffrey) Hansen-Bjork and Jeri (Jim) Huntington twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to either Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Michael the Archangel Grandparent Fund.
