Carl James Duke
65, of Avon, passed away on August 17, 2011. He was born in Paso Robles, CA on December 29, 1945 to Elmer Henry and Bertha Lavern (Haynes) Duke. Carl’s family moved to Indianapolis, where he graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1964. Carl served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked as a loan officer for the Small Business Administration in Indianapolis. Carl loved many things; fishing, hunting and most importantly, his family. He was also an avid Harley rider and enjoyed his membership in the Patriot Guard and Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry. Carl is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Karla Kay (Ehrhart) Duke; children, Chris and Katie Duke; brother, John (Linda) Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley Hubbard and Linda Melick; and brother, Rick Duke. Visitation for Carl will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Speedway on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 11am at the Westside Church of the Nazarene; with visitation 1 hour prior at the church. Burial will take place in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
