C. Helen Tirey
Place of Birth: Edinburgh, IN
C. Helen Tirey, known lovingly as Mimi to her family, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 29th 2015. She was 100 years old. A dedicated grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Helen was a beautiful illustration of love, hope, and strength both for her family and friends.
Helen was born in Edinburgh, IN on February 9, 1915 to James and Annabelle Phillips, and was the last surviving of her nine brothers and sisters. Helen later moved to Indianapolis where she lived most of her life raising and doting on her daughter, Jeri Jo. Helen worked for the Indiana Motor Rate and Tariff Bureau for more than 40 year before retiring in the mid-nineties. After her retirement she enjoyed working as a tour guide for AARP, traveling around the country and sightseeing.
Helens beautiful soul and warm smile will be greatly missed. With her wit, humor, and generosity, she spread joy-not only to those she held most dear, but to everyone she met along the way.
Mimi is survived by her grandchildren Michael, Shellie, and Kelly; her great-grandchildren Carissa, Grace, Mia, and Molly, and her great-great granddaughter Jordan.
Helen was proceeded in death by her parents James and Annabelle Phillips; her brothers Harry, Ray, Raymond, Vernon, and Robert; her sisters, Evelyn, Katherine, Beatrice, Lucille; and her daughter Jeri.
Family and Friends may call from 12:00pm-2:00pm Wednesday, November 4, 2015 with Funeral Service at 2:00pm in Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis.
