Burdean 'Joe' Gootee

Burdean “Joe” Gootee 81 of Indianapolis passed away June 16, 2011. He was born on September 7, 1930 in Indianapolis the son of Roy Joseph and Vada Pearl (Owens) Gootee. Joe served in the u S Army and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers of American and IBEW Local 1504 of which he served as the treasurer. He retired from Western Electric in 1983 after 35 years of service. He also played with a Friday Night Card Group for over 30 years. Survivors: wife of almost 60 years, Sueann (Deer) Gootee; sons, Brian M. and Bruce J. Gootee; sister, Sister Ann Jeanette SP and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, twin brother, Bernard Gootee, brother, Robert Francis Gootee and sister, Patricia L. Gootee Dyer. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 pm Tuesday, June 21st at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Paul D. Koetter as celebrant. Friends my visit with the family after 10:00 am Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Washington Park East.
