Bryce Edward Gerlitz, 34, of Kokomo lost his hard-fought battle with mental illness on June 27, 2023. He was born November 20, 1988, in Indianapolis, the son of Bruce and Vickye (Long) Gerlitz. He married Sarah Mugg on November 18, 2015 and together they built a beautiful family with the additions of their three children.
Bryce was a graduate of Pike High School, where he especially enjoyed performing arts, including Jazz Band, Encores Show Choir, and the Marching Band, where he earned the position of Drum Major. He later went on to perform with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp. Bryce’s love and talent for music was also reflected in his composing original musical pieces in his spare time.
Bryce had a rewarding career working with the public thru Restaurant Management at the Stacked Pickle, starting up the BBQ Yard in Westfield, and most recently as the Advertising Coordinator for Kashurba Web Design Group. He enjoyed cooking, working out, playing soccer, and was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan; his greatest joy was being a dedicated husband, son, father, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Gerlitz; three children, Aria – 6, Cru – 4, Kai – 1, parents, Bruce and Vickye Gerlitz; three brothers, Connor (Rachel) Gerlitz, Dustin Gerlitz, Erik Gerlitz; maternal grandparents, Pearlene and Edward Long; paternal grandmother, Clara Gerlitz; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. The Celebration of Life Reception will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by a time for Sharing of Memories at 3:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to be dressed in their favorite Vikings gear, colors of purple and gold, or casual dress.
