Bruce R. Bailey, originally from Indianapolis, recently of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away June 8th, 2023. He was born in Indy March 3rd, 1929 to parents Arthur and Thursia Bailey.
He grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. Later he attended IUPUI earning an associates degree in computer science.
Bruce married the love of his life, Jeannie, and they shared 66 wonderful years together. Jeannie passed away December, 2016. Jean and Bruce were charter members of Eastgate Christian Church, and his faith was very important in
his life.
He worked for Indiana Bell/AT&T for 41 years before retiring in 1990. During those years he volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers, building physical therapy tables.
Bruce was a charming, loving man who never met a stranger. He was an animal lover, especially dogs, and would never say no to a home cooked meal. He enjoyed woodworking and chair caning. He lost count of how many pieces of furniture he caned after he got to 5,000.
Bruce is survived by his children; Judy (Keith) Noland, Linda (Gary) Burcham, Sharon (Michael) Hays, daughter–in-law, Kathryn Bailey, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean, son, Lee, his parents and brothers.
His graveside service will take place Monday, June 19th, at 1pm, Washington Park East Cemetery. Please meet at the funeral center (10722 E. Washington St.) at 12:45 so we can drive to his grave space together.
