Brice Dewayne Gilbert, born January 23, 1960 in Indianapolis, Indiana to his loving parents JC and Martha Mae Gilbert, as the seventh of eight children. He attended Arsenal Technical High School, where he was a part of the graduating class of 1979, and continued his secondary education through Ivy Tech Community College. Brice enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going to the casino, taking road trips and going to the amusement park with his family. He also enjoyed doing trivia and telling bad jokes. While in high school Brice played basketball and also played drums.
Brice was introduced to Christ early on in life regularly attending St. John’s with his family as a child. Later on in life he discovered his home church at The People’s Church.
Brice was known for his work ethic, starting as a young man his first job was at Frankie Vits General Store. He then started pursuing a career in Environmental Services (EVS) starting as a technician at St. Vincent Hospital. Later leading him to transition to Community North Hospital and The Cancer Center where he was employed for 15+ years. While also balancing his EVS job he also worked at FedEx as a package handler/auditor for 15+ Years as well. He had recently began working a new position with Washington Township Schools working at Allison Elementary School.
Brice leaves to cherish his memories his four daughters, Tajuana M. Gilbert, Brycetta Gilbert, Britney Gilbert- Haskins (Kyle), and Melanie A. Gilbert, and five grandchildren, Ty’Juan Gilbert, Tyler Gilbert, Kimberly J. Haskins, Kaylin R. Haskins, and Breann J. Haskins. He also leaves to cherish his memories his siblings, Roosevelt (Louis) Gilbert, JM (Carolyn) Gilbert, Leatha Gilbert, George (Rhonda) Gilbert, and Ann Gilbert., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Martha Mae Gilbert, and brothers, Johnny Gilbert and James “Jim” Gilbert.
