Brian Douglas Edington
71, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2015. Brian was born April 4, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he grew up. Brian met Jane Goza Edington at W. D. Thompson Elementary School when he was in the 7th grade. They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. He was a graduate of Briarcliff High School class of 1962. Brian attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Georgia State University, receiving a degree in Marketing. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Brian was a pioneer in the sports licensed product industry when no one but professionals wore jerseys. He was proud to have been a part of what that industry is today. He was employed by Kellwood Company as President of the Stahl-Urban Group and a partner at Logo Athletic, Inc. as Vice President Sales and Marketing. He was inducted into the NFL Properties Hall of Fame in April 1992.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jane, daughters Amy Edington Darby (Florence, AL) and Amanda Edington Pfister (Fishers, IN), son-in-laws Clifford Darby and Steven Pfister and beloved grandchildren Brian, Emily, Samuel and William. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Snider Edington, father Gordon Edington, and brother Barry Edington.
Brian embraced the qualities of humor, honesty, hard work, and a great love for his family and friends throughout his life.
The family would like to thank Brian's loving and attentive caregivers, Ashlee, Laura, Craig, and Maria. We would also like to thank the team of Lisa, Pam, Susan, Rob, and Ginger from Community North Hospice Care for their kindness and compassion.
A memorial service to celebrate Brian's life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. with calling one hour prior at Flanner and Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana.
