Brenda (Tabor) Bley, 77, was taken to her heavenly home to meet her Savior on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Indianapolis, IN. Brenda was born February 7, 1949, in Dayton, OH. Later in her childhood, her entire family moved to Youngstown, Ohio.
Brenda graduated from South High School (Youngstown, OH) in 1967. She attended Youngstown State University (YSU), where she completed an AA degree in 1969 and a Bachelor’s degree in 1973. Brenda used her degrees in multiple contexts throughout the course of her life: at YSU, Baptist Bible College, The Dairy Council, Dayton Christian Schools, Bob Jones University, Airlines for America, and International Bible College & Seminary.
Brenda became a believer in Jesus Christ in 1970. The Word of God became her guide, and she studied it faithfully. Some of her favorite verses are:
Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the Lord, He it is that doth go before; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee; neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say on the LORD.”
Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
She knew God kept His promises and lived in light of them, especially during the last several years as her health became increasingly compromised.
Her hobbies and church activities included: cross-stitch, sewing, reading, traveling to visit friends, making peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with special friends, serving at church dinners, and mentoring young ladies. She was a stalwart, behind-the-scenes servant.
Brenda is survived by her sweetheart husband Wayne with whom she recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. Her children Emily (Blair) Frye; Alison Korecki; and Ginger (Eli) Wood. By her grandchildren Cameron & Marshall Frye; Jackson, Violet, Tyler, and JJ Korecki; Keenan, Tucker, and Addison Wood.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Anne Tabor, and her siblings William Lee, Buck, Mary, and Louise. She is survived by her sister Ruth Spencer and brother Tom (Karen) Tabor.
Visitation (9:30 AM) and Service (11:00 AM) will be on Monday, July 13th, 2026, at Southeast Baptist Tabernacle, 6835 Shelbyville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Final internment, following Wayne’s passing, will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan, Indianapolis, Indiana.
