Bonnie Marie Dawson

Bonnie Marie (Carlson) Dawson, 74, Carmel, passed away on September 20, 2023. She was born on September 15, 1949 in Warren, PA, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Taylor) Carlson.

Bonnie graduated from Warren Area High School and Ohio University, and she served as a second grade teacher prior to her marriage to Larry Dawson in 1971.  Her true passions were faith and family, and she built her life of love on these foundations. 

Bonnie was also a faithful friend who maintained close relationships with people across the decades and around the world.  Countless family and friends remember with great fondness the many celebrations Bonnie hosted in the warm, beautiful house she designed from scratch and called home for the last 30 years. 

After becoming a widow, she was supported and blessed by the welcoming community of the College Park Church Widows Connection group.  She also served as a long-time volunteer with Indy Reads.

Bonnie was preceded in death and deeply loved by her parents, Mary (Taylor) Carlson and Kenneth Carlson, brother, Jimmy Carlson, and husband of nearly 40 years, Larry Dawson. She is survived and adored by her daughter, Anne Dawson Jutt (Mike); her son, Michael Dawson (Mollie), and her nine grandchildren, Abby, Adam, Mia, Will, Ellie, Sam, and Ben Jutt and Charlie and Claire Dawson, who will always treasure memories of their “Bo.”   Her beloved brother, Jack Carlson (Lynn) and sister-in-law, Karen Dawson Lane (Mark) also survive her, as do several cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Bonnie’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Flanner Buchanan- Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of service.
