With hearts full of love and gratitude, we remember the life of Bonnie Sue Claspell (née Myers), who passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on December 10, 1945, in Scottsville, Kentucky, Bonnie spent eighty (80) bright and compassionate years inspiring those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Bonnie was a woman whose kindness radiated in every room she entered. Raised in the warmth of Allen County, she grew to become a steadfast presence for her family and a gentle, generous spirit for her friends. She treasured her roots, finding joy and solace in the values passed down by her beloved parents, Carl and Etta Myers.
Bonnie’s journey led her to Indianapolis, where she built a loving home alongside her husband of 63 years, Harold Claspell. Together, they navigated life’s challenges and raised a family who will cherish Bonnie’s memory always.
She was the proud and caring mother of two devoted daughters, Tonya Claspell and Lisa Lucas. Bonnie’s nurturing guidance and boundless love shaped their lives, instilling in them the same kindness and determination she embodied.
As a grandmother, Bonnie delighted in the company of her grandson, Chrisitan Lucas. Their time together was filled with stories, adventures, and lots of chocolate gravy and Mac ‘n Tomato. The lessons she instilled in him, he will carry forever.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Barney “Carl” and Etta Myers, her older brother Delbert “Bill” Myers and her sister, LaMona “Mona” Woodward.
Throughout her life, Bonnie remained deeply connected to both her family and her roots. She preserved memories and created new ones. She was the sort of presence who listened with both heart and mind, who celebrated the achievements of loved ones and offered comfort in times of need, especially to stray animals, who were no longer strays after meeting her.
Bonnie’s passing leaves an unfillable space in the lives of those who loved her. But, her influence, gentle touch, and steadfast love will endure, carried on in stories, traditions, and the small, everyday acts of kindness she inspired. Her memory will remain a blessing and a light for her husband Harold, daughters Tonya and Lisa, grandson Chrisitan, brother Fred, and all who knew her.
As family and friends gather to honor Bonnie Sue Claspell’s remarkable life, they do so with enormous gratitude for the years they shared and the boundless love she freely gave. Though she has left this world, the echoes of her care and compassion remain—an everlasting testament to a life profoundly well-lived.
A Celebration of Bonnie's life will be held Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1:30pm at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East, with visitation from 11:30am until the time of service.
