Bonita Sue Meyer

Bonita 'Sue' Meyer, 85, of Indianapolis, Indiana, peacefully passed away while surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 18, 2026. 

She was born in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas on October 5, 1941, to Cecil and Thelma Smith. Sue graduated with a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and taught in various elementary schools in the Indianapolis area for over 30 years. She was a member of Greenfield Church of Christ where she sang with the Voices of Praise group. She enjoyed spending her time reading books, spending time with family, cooking, playing table games with friends, and hosting holiday get-togethers. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Paul Elich and Cortland Meyer, brother Rodney Smith, and stepson Darrell Meyer. She is survived by her sister Brenda (Don) Whiteside, children Paul 'Michael' (Stacey) Elich, John Elich, Elyce Powlen, and Leslie (Teisha) Meyer along with 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Flanner-Buchanan Memorial Park, 9350 E Washington St., Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
