Bobby Gene Britt, 81, of Indianapolis passed away May 5, 2015. He was born August 11, 1933 in Scottsville, KY to Lela and Floyd Britt. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Ben Davis HS, where he played football and basketball. He received his BS from Indiana State University, while playing football, and a MA from Butler University. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army before moving back to Indianapolis to begin a 37-year career with Wayne Township. Bob served as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, athletic director, and football and basketball coach. During his 12 years as athletic director, Ben Davis, among other success, won 10 state championships. Over the years, Bob positively influenced thousands of students, athletes, teachers, and coaches. He was a devoted family man, long-time member of Chapel Rock Christian Church, avid fisherman, morel mushroom hunter, antique enthusiast, and a lifelong BD Giant. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Myrtle (Shockley); son Kevin (Kathy) and their children, Eryn Morrow (Scott), Amanda, Jessica and Kayla; son Kent (Kelly) and their children, Alexandra, Andrew, Gabrielle and Jacob; daughter, Kim McManus, and her daughter, Kelsey Sexauer (Alex); and great-grandson, Kai. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 3-7pm at Chapel Rock Christian Church. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at noon, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Rock Christian Church or the Ben Davis Athletic Dept.
