Bobbie J. Persinger
77, of Indianapolis, passed away May 13, 2014. Bob was born February 9, 1937 in Indianapolis to the late Forrest Persinger and Hazel Persinger-Hograve. Bob is survived by his wife Nancy Lyons, a son Timothy Persinger (Barb), of Lehigh Acres, Florida, a stepson Ty Lyons (Kit) of W. Lafayette, a stepdaughter Kim Lyons-Darding (Gerry) of Lebanon, and a step-granddaughter Madison Lyons of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jimmie Persinger, a sister Jackie Persinger-Hatfield, and a niece Lisa Hatfield.
Bob served four years in the United States Air Force, where he was the Football Teams Middle Linebacker. He also played Middle Linebacker while attending the University of Tennessee.
Bob retired after 32 years from Allison Transmission where he was in Quality Control Engineer. After his retirement he worked as a consultant for several companies in the US and Canada.
His passion was golfing, fishing, hunting, and coaching Little League, which he did for many years. He was a member of Woodwind Golf Club, and Ironwood Golf Club. Bob also loved to cook. He was well known for his famous chocolate chip cookies and breakfast buffets.
A grave side service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, May 16 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers he asked that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association. Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway are handling funeral arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com
