Billy Starnes
72, of Indianapolis, died November 21, 2015. Billy was born on August 29, 1943 in Reverie, TN (Island 35) to Lonnie Clyde and Myrtle (Powell) Starnes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After service, Billy worked for Standard Grocery for many years as a produce manager and later a store manager. After retiring, he volunteered at Methodist Hospital in the Child Life area. However, his real passion was his love for his family and fishing! He was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #64. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Crook, Shirley Mahaney a brother Thomas Starnes and a grandson James Micheal White III. He is survived by his wife Linda (Johnson) Starnes, sons Mark (Kami) Starnes, Scott (Amanda) Starnes, daughters Julie (Micheal) Spall, Cindy (Randy) Miers, brothers Lonnie (Mary) Starnes, James Starnes, Deltus (Judy) Starnes, Harold (Dianne) Starnes, sisters Emma Lue (Gene) Smith, Nellie (Rodney) Mullen, Carol (Jack) Scanland, grandchildren Kutler, Karston, Makara, Miranda, Jimmy Mac (deceased), Collin, Kala, Destiny, Seana, Steven, Devin, Morgan, Johnathan, Brittany, one great granddaughter Zailynn and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Decatur, with services Wednesday at 10:00am at the funeral center. Burial will follow the visitation in Johnson Family Cemetery, Brownsburg. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5535 W. Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46221 or to the donors favorite charity.
