Billie Frances Clark Evans, 86, daughter of Benjamin Harrison Clark and Winnie Thomas Goodpastor Clark, passed away September 2, 2022, in Indianapolis.

Billie was born January 6, 1936, in Oakley, Tennessee, the youngest of 4 siblings. She spent the majority of her life in Indiana and graduated from Connersville High School in 1954. Three years later, in 1957, Billie graduated from Union Hospital School of Nursing in Terre Haute, Indiana as a Registered Nurse. During Billie’s time at Union Hospital, she met the love of her life, Gene Evans, who was attending Indiana State University. On August 14, 1959, Billie and Gene were married in Terre Haute and subsequently moved to Indianapolis. Billie and Gene moved around a bit during the early years of their marriage – Gene was a district manager for Airway. They eventually settled in Zionsville and raised four daughters: Lynn, Lora, Cara, and Barbie during their 61 years of marriage. Billie worked as an RN at the VA hospital in Indianapolis for more than 20 years. She retired in 1998.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings Omer, Harold, and Anne, as well as the love of her life, Gene Evans. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Lynn Evans and Lora Catuhe. Billie is survived by Barbie Evans of Indianapolis, her son-in-law Bruno Catuhe, of North Carolina, and Cara Evans. Billie is also survived by one grandchild, one great-grandchild, as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Billie was a kind and caring woman who loved spending time with family, traveling, and using her creativity for sewing, quilting, as well as many other crafts. Billie loved gardening and flowers, and was particularly proud of her Big Blue Hosta and her blue Hydrangeas. Billie enjoyed spending time with her friends, and she loved babies. Billie delighted in watching her friends and families’ little ones grow. Billie was a very special wife, mother, aunt, friend and will be missed dearly.
