Bill R. Rainwater

Bill R. Rainwater, 87, Zionsville, IN, passed away at Hoosier Village December 30, 2024, where he had been a long-term resident. He will be missed by his many friends there. He was born in Brown County, IN to William Raymond Rainwater and Marjorie E. (Gee) Rainwater.

He graduated from George Washington High School and then worked at the Indianapolis Star and was a member of the Old Time Printer’s Association. He was a member of the Masons for 61 years where he achieved 32 status. He went on to serve as Assistant Secretary Treasurer for the Communication Workers of America. Bill enjoyed skiing, biking and walking. He also enjoyed woodworking which included making furniture. He supported the Scottish Rite Cathedral, Wounded Warriors, Fraternal Order of Police, the Indianapolis Zoo and the University of Colorado.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Joan (Cantrell) Rainwater, brother Richard L. Rainwater and sister Wanda Faye Rainwater.

He left behind so many friends and family. Survivors include his brother Darrell (Vicki) Rainwater, niece Julie (Michael) Herbertz, nephew Rod Shelley and daughter Megan Rainwater.
