Bill Perkins, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on March 3, 2014. He was born in Union City, Indiana, the youngest son of the late Nellie (nee: Lewis) and Leonard Perkins. He was a member of the Belleville Bible Church.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He played baseball and basketball in high school, and was a Sarah Shank Men's Club golfer for nearly 50 years. He was a farmer until he volunteered to serve his Country in the Army.
After college, he worked for Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys), a Fortune 500 computer firm. He started as an office manager in Chicago and Indianapolis, but spent his last 19 years as a salesman and sales manager, winning the prestigious Legion of Honor award for outstanding sales achievement ten times. He retired in 1986 after 28 years of faithful service.
He is survived by his sons Kevin Perkins of Martinsville, IN and Michael Perkins of Hollywood, FL; a sister Kathryn Collins (96) of Greenville, OH; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend and companion Mary Barnes of Greenwood, IN.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years Freda Carol (nee: Rawlins) and ten siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Social of Greenwood, where Bill enjoyed the companionship of the members, playing bridge, and helping out with projects.
