Beverly Mae Broglin

Beverly M. Broglin, 91, was born June 22, 1930 in Clay City, Indiana to Manford Odell and Martha Mary (nee Haviland) Liechty. She passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021 with her daughter, Sandra, in attendance at Life’s Journey Hospice of Avon, Indiana.

Beverly was married to John William Broglin for 41 years before his passing in September of 1993. She spent 29 years as a teacher for the Indianapolis Public Schools, with most of those years being spent as a first-grade teacher at School #79. In addition, she was a longtime member of both the Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women in Education and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also took great joy in clogging and line dancing until the age of 87 with the Circle City Cloggers and “Still Kickin” dancers.

Beverly is survived by her daughter Sandra Serna of Lake Barrington, Illinois; her grandchildren Matthew Serna, Carly Serna, Stephanie (Will Makoski) Serna and Kristen (Greg Dworjan) Serna; three grandchildren Aiden and Tristan Schnur and Rudy Dworjan; her brother Darrell Liechty (Anne Lewellyn) of Moses Lake, Washington; two nieces Janice Liechty and MaryJo (Smallman) Liechty and one nephew, Mark Liechty (Roberta “Robbie” Shaw).

The family will receive friends and guests for viewing from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 N. High School Road in Indianapolis. The funeral will begin at noon with Chaplain Mack Burberry officiating. Entombment will follow at the Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Beverly’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children at: donate.lovetotherescue.org
