Betty J. Rogers

Betty J. (Maple) Rogers, born November 7, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Paul C and Wanda (Henricks) Maple, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in Avon, surrounded by her loving family. Betty led a rich life, marked by diverse talents and an unwavering dedication to those she cherished.

Throughout her career, Betty wore many hats. She was an inspiring art teacher, who nurtured creativity in countless students; a diligent typist for medical images, showcasing her attention to detail; and a dedicated associate at Lane Bryant, where she brought warmth and camaraderie to her work. Her professional journey reflected her multiple interests and abilities, demonstrating her versatility and strong work ethic.

She was known for her spirited personality—loving yet stubborn, set in her ways, but with a remarkable ability to connect with children. Betty was incredibly proud of her family, always championing their accomplishments and ensuring they felt her enduring support and love.

In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She found great joy in hand quilting, meticulously crafting each piece with love. She often engaged in solving jigsaw puzzles, particularly the challenging 1000-piece ones, and delighted in crosswords, keeping her mind sharp and engaged. Gardening was another one of her passions, with roses being her specialty—each bloom was a testament to her care and dedication. She also had a heartfelt appreciation for the good old country music, which resonated with her roots.

Betty's fondest memories were often spent watching the Grit channel, particularly enjoying the timeless films starring John Wayne. These moments brought her comfort and joy, reflecting her love for storytelling and connection to classic Americana.

Her passing marks the end of a significant chapter in the lives of her family and friends, but she leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. Betty is now reunited with her beloved husband, John, and the warm memories they created together will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving parents, husband John Rogers, son Gene “Guy” Young, daughter Wanda Young, three sisters, one brother, and many other family members and friends.

Betty is survived by her son Walter Spurgeon Jr, brothers Paul S. Maple, James Maple (Mary Tucker) sisters Pauline (Philip) Ingalsbe, and Myrl (Mark) Wasmuth, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other beloved family members.

Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for July 18, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan-Memorial Park, located at 9350 E Washington St, Indianapolis, Indiana. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Her final resting place will take place after the service at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor and celebrate Betty's extraordinary life and the deep impact she had on so many.
