Betty Lou Payton of Rushville, Indiana, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 27, 2026, at 88 years of age. She was born February 1, 1938, in Holland, Missouri to the late Jack Cooper and Ethel (Lawrence) Cooper Elliott. Betty enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting dolls, and spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Betty is survived by her loving son, Rev. Jimmy Huffman, her stepdaughter, Jackie Hutchinson, her grandchildren, Glenn Hutchinson, Natasha Hutchinson, Crystal Huffman, Brittany Huffman, Anthony Huffman, Amber Huffman, several great grandchildren, her sister, Mary (John) Anderson, and her brother, Doyle (Becky) Cooper. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Payton, her children, Pat Hensley, Jackie Payton, Jr., Mike Hall, her grandchildren, Isiah Payton, Michael Hall, her sisters, Maxine Farmer, Joyce Gosney, and her brothers, Ernie, Billy, Donald Cooper. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, 1:00pm at Floral Park Cemetery 425 N. Holt Road Indianapolis, Indiana.
