Betty Louise Kriegbaum Ober

Indianapolis, Indiana

Betty Louise Kriegbaum Ober, born to Ruth and James Kriegbaum in Huntington, Indiana on September 10, 1927, graduated from Huntington High School where she was salutatorian of her class.  Betty went on to graduate from Indiana University where she was president of Delta Gamma sorority.  She enjoyed friendships throughout her life with Delta Gamma friends, particularly in Indianapolis and in Naples, Florida.

She was married for 60 years to John Ober, until his death on December 14, 2009.  They lived in Indianapolis where they raised their children.  They enjoyed travel, particularly wintering in Naples, Florida.  They were benefactors to many charitable causes.  Among these are funding for medical and molecular genetics in the Indiana University School of Medicine, establishment of the Kathryn Ober Scholarship, and funding for their church, Meridian Street United Methodist Church.  Betty loved Turner Classic Movies and PBS programming for decades.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Kathryn Louise Ober, her sister Mary Ann Meier and brother James (Bud) Kriegbaum.

She is survived by her son, John Steven Ober of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meridian Street United Methodist Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.
