Betty Stone of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away January 12, 2011 after a brief illness. Born Betty Johnson in Kokomo, Indiana on July 1, 1927 to John W. and Velma Chance Johnson. Betty attended the Jordan School of Music at Butler University and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was an accomplished musician and composer. Betty was a homemaker whose hobbies included golfing and the culinary arts. Betty resided in Long Beach, IN and Carmel, IN for most of her life. She and her husband retired to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James E. Stone; and her brother, William G. Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Salmon of Rochester, IN and Nancy Carroll of Aiken, SC; grandsons, Alex and John Salmon of Rochester, IN, and Drew Nicodemus of Stuart, FL. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN. Burial will follow at Summitt Lawn Cemetery, Westfield, IN.
