Betty Jean (Mitchell) Boyer

Betty Jean (Mitchell) Boyer, 89, passed away May 12, 2014, at Greenwood Village Health Pavilion in Greenwood, Indiana following a long illness. Betty was born on April 19, 1925 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Dorsey Orville and Bessie (Casey) Mitchell. She was a resident of Indianapolis for most of her life and was a 1943 graduate of Technical High School now Arsenal Technical High School. An avid volunteer, Betty served as PTA President for Pleasant Run Elementary, Brookview Elementary, Woodview Junior High, Stonybrook Jr. High and Warren Central High Schools. She also served as Warren Township PTA Council President, Marion County PTA Council President, and Indiana State PTA Regional Vice-President. She was active for many years in the Indianapolis Symphony Women's Committee. Her work outside the home included Secretary for an Insurance Company, Office Manager at Bill Boyer Company Realtors, Realtor with Ludlow, Bill Boyer and Carpenter Companies. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Jean Ann "Jeane" Berry (Bob), Janet Elaine Woods (Ken) and Jaynie Lynne Peach. 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Edward Boyer, her parents Dorsey and Bessie Mitchell and her brother, Dorsey Orville Mitchell, Jr. Viewing will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
