Betty Jean Coleman

Betty was born on December 28, 1949, in McComb, Mississippi. She moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with her family around 1952. Betty attended Shortridge High School, graduating in 1969. She was united in marriage to Richard C. Coleman Sr. on April 25, 1970. They shared a loving marriage, creating beautiful memories with their seven kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for 55 years.

Betty was known for her kind heart and unwavering love for her family and friends. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, movies, family gatherings, and was deeply devoted to her faith in serving Jehovah God as a Jehovah’s Witness. She was baptised on August 9, 1969. Betty retired as a teacher’s aide for Lawrence Township.

Betty Jean Coleman (Booth) of Indianapolis, Indiana, peacefully passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty leaves behind her loving husband, Richard C. Coleman, Sr.; children: Rick Coleman Jr., Darrick Coleman, Corey (Corinna) Coleman Sr., NaKisha (Brandon) Davie, Tiffany (Ramon) Reece, LaToya Jones, and Shantell Coleman; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings: Diane Massie, James Don (Carlette) Booth, DeWitt Earnest Booth, Nathaniel (Vivian) Booth, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will hold her close in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearlee Booth, father, DeWitt Booth, sister, Pearl Booth, brother, Michael Booth Sr., and sister-in-law, Kleemeta (Cookie) Booth.

Her life was full of joy. Her love and kindness were felt by everyone who knew her. Our hearts ache with her no longer with us, but we take comfort in knowing Betty is now resting in peace. Our memories and love for Betty will continue to live on through all of us.

She will forever remain in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2PM. Held at Flanner Buchanan-Geist, 7855 Cork Rd. Indianapolis, IN, 46256.
