Betty Jean Brodhecker (Quick)
93, of Avon, (formerly Lawrence) passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017. She was born in Lebanon, IN on August 29, 1923 to the late Arthur Park Quick and Lavona Ethel Quick.
Betty served in the Army Nurse Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant at the age of 21. Subsequently, she met the love of her life, Wayne A. Brodhecker. They were married and raised three children.
Betty will be remembered for her involvement with her family, friends, church and community. She served as an usher for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Conner Prairie.
She enjoyed shopping and thrifting at the local markets, especially Salvation Army. Betty was a nurse for Indianapolis Public Schools—Arsenal Tech High School. Most of all she was a loving and proud grandmother to her four grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Brodhecker; children, Cheryl Ann Hoyer (Brian), Sandra Kay Hatcher, John Wayne Brodhecker (Jody); grandchildren, John Hatcher, Gregg Hatcher (Heather), Mike Hatcher (Amber), Danielle (David) Martinez, and several great-grandchildren. Nephew Donald Rice and niece Linda Rice Case also survive her.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol Rice.
A visitation will be held at Flanner and Buchanan—Floral Park 425 N. Holt Rd, on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 10-11AM with services following at 11AM. Betty will be laid to rest at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, IN.
