Betty J. Harold

Betty Jean Harold of Indianapolis passed away Feb. 9, 2024 of natural causes at the age of 98 years. She was the daughter of John Harley Jones and Dora Jane Crone and born to them on March 26, 1925 in Walkerton, Indiana. She was the youngest of their 5 children consisting of 3 sisters (Georgia Kelley, Juretta Rathsbickler, Maxine Keaton), and one brother (Paul Jones). She was preceded in death by her parents, her 3 husbands, and all her siblings. 

Her formative years were spent in Walkerton, New Castle, Lapel and the Westside of Indianapolis. Growing up in the depression her family moved around wherever employment was available and ending up on the Westside of Indianapolis. Betty attended and graduated from Washington High School with honors in 1943.   On January 12, 1945 she married Robert Paul Hunt. They both were living in Washington DC while he completed his tour in the Navy and,  she worked at the Pentagon. After his discharge from the U S Navy, they moved back to the East side of Indianapolis, where they raised two children. She worked for Proctor and Gamble (Indianapolis Office) until its closing. Not wanting to move to Cincinnati, she went to work for W. J. ZINN appraisal company until retirement. 

She was married 3 times losing all 3 to cancer and has remained unmarried since 2010. She remained on the Eastside of Indianapolis until 2023, and then moving to Aspen Health Campus in Greensburg, Indiana where she remained until her death.  She is survived by her children John M. Hunt (Lacy), and Connie J. Olson (Mark), ten grandchildren Brian Hunt (Lorie), Scott Hunt (Kris), Shelley Dixon (Phillip), Elliot Wilson (Pam), Tyler Wilson (Vanessa), Darin Wilson (Christina), Heather Barr (Bryan), Renea Johnson (William), Matt Olson, Ryan Olson (Shannon), and 25 great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229) on Thursday, February 15, from 11 am - 1 pm with funeral services following at 1 pm with Pastor Rob Mifflin presiding. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
