Betty Gean Steinmetz

Betty Gean (Graves) Steinmetz, age 92, passed away February 23, 2022. Betty was born February 3, 1930, in Indianapolis. Her parents Robert and Bertha Graves preceded her in death, as well as 7 of her 14 siblings.

Betty graduated from Manual High School in 1947. She was employed by JC Penny Lafayette Square as a Merchandising Associate for 23 ½ years, retiring in 1992. Betty was a member of Friday Senior Bowler (Raceway Lanes), Westview Hospital Senior Spirit, JC Penny Retiree’s Club, Red Hats and Top Notch Tours.

Betty was married to retired IFD Captain Harold M. Steinmetz for almost 55 years. He preceded her in death in 2002. Betty is survived by her 4 children Harold Richard Steinmetz, Ronnie (Vickie) Steinmetz, Diane Samm, and Donna Carter. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters Loretta Rodman, Nina Wilson, Gloria Powers, Linda Staten, Nancy (Tom) McConkey, and Debbie Tietz; and brother Mike Graves.

Betty was laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer Association or Ronald McDonald House. The family wishes many thanks to Brownsburg Meadows Nursing Home for taking excellent care of Betty during the last 2 ½ years of her life.
