Betty Louise Hale Bever

Betty Louise (Hale) Bever passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born on March 10, 1935, in Owsley County, Kentucky, Betty was the daughter of Clarence and Frances (Stidham) Hale. During her childhood, her family relocated to Milton, Indiana, where she spent her formative years.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob L. Bever, with whom she shared 52½ years of marriage; her brothers, Wilgus, Willie, Bobby, Lenville, and Delmas Hale; and her sisters, Mae Gibbs, Sharlet Shaffer, and Rose Basford.

After moving to Indianapolis, Betty and Bob raised their three daughters: Beverly Fitzwater (Rick), Becky Kellogg, and Bonnie Ziats (John).

She was a devoted grandmother to Brian Fitzwater, Amy Fitzwater, David Ziats, Jeff Ziats, and Heather Kellogg. Betty was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Alex Ziats, Anna Ziats, Leah Ziats, Levi Ziats, Benjamin Fitzwater, and Bailey Wolf.

Throughout her life, Betty was known for her strong work ethic and caring spirit. She worked at Hooks Drug Stores and RCA before beginning a 28-year career at Northwest High School, where she retired as Cafeteria Manager.

Betty found great joy in making homemade candies and baking special treats during the holidays. Family and friends eagerly anticipated her Christmas candies each year, a tradition that became one of the many ways she expressed her love. She was also an accomplished crocheter who enjoyed creating handmade blankets for those she cherished.

A faithful Christian, Betty was a member of Eagledale Baptist Church and later Cross Pointe Baptist Church, where she actively participated in calling ministries and church outreach. She also dedicated 20 years of volunteer service to the Ronald McDonald House in Indianapolis, touching the lives of countless families through her kindness and compassion.

Betty will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the cherished memories she leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held at Flanner Buchanan in Speedway, Indiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on June 17, 2026, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. 

A graveside service will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana.
