Betty Belle Bernauer Dixon 89 of Indianapolis died July 04, 2011. Betty was born October 16, 1921 in Indianapolis to William Arthur and Ruth Belle (Quick) Bernauer. As Betty grew up in Indianapolis she graduated Shortridge High School in 1940. Betty was a licensed beautician and retired as a Co-Owner of Dixon Fire Equipment and prior to that she worked as a carnival circus entertainer where she was shot out of cannons and was the opening act for the motorcycle Globe of Death Act. Betty was involved in the Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Ladies of Oriental Shrine, Smyrna Shrine Guild, American Legion Post #500 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Moose Lodge Post #500. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Claude Clar Dixon. Calling for Betty will be Saturday July 09, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Washington Park North beginning at 10 AM with a Ladies of Oriental Shrine service at 11:45 AM followed by the funeral service beginning at Noon all in the funeral center. Betty is survived by her sons Bill (Mary) Dixon and Bart (Cathy) Dixon and her grandchildren Todd Dixon, Bill Dixon Jr. and Denise (Doug) Kerr and great grandchildren Bryan and Benjamin Kerr. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
