Betty Fleming Beardsley

Betty Fleming Beardsley, 97, of Carmel passed away February 25, 2024.  She was born May 7, 1926, in Hudson, Ohio the daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie Fleming.   

Betty grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio.  She enjoyed tap dancing, piano lessons, horseback riding, skating, and the Rainbow Girls growing up.  Betty met the love of her life when she was 15, Ralph Beardsley, at youth group.  They married in 1946, had Jeffrey Randolph Beardsley in 1947 and Christine Diane in 1952.   Ralph and Betty lived in Cleveland, OH, St. Louis, MO, York, PA, and then settled in Carmel, IN in 1970.   Betty enjoyed working for the Arthritis Foundation, singing with Sweet Adelines for over 30 years, and volunteering at the Carmel Public Library.  She was a long-time member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church and Hillcrest Country Club. Betty was passionate about traveling.  It did not matter by boat, plane, or camel.  She enjoyed the pyramids of Egypt to the Red Light District of Amsterdam.  Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Davis; three grandchildren, Jeff (Jennifer) Davis, Lisa Davis Shultz, and Stefanie (Aaron) Hutchens; and six great grandsons, Ethan, Alex, Hunter, Davis, Lincoln, and Benjamin.  She was preceded in passing by her husband, Ralph Beardsley, on July 15, 2013, after 67 years of marriage; son, PFC Jeffrey R. Beardsley and son-in-law, Rick A. Davis.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.   Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Senior Living Pet Sanctuary, 9621 Lincoln Boulevard, Carmel, IN 46280.  Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.flannerbuchanan.com.
