Betty Jean Baron

Betty Jean Baron, 94, Indianapolis, IN, passed away December 8, 2024. She was born in New Castle, IN to Walter Peyton Dean and Gladys Lucille (Supinger) Dean. Betty attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated early at the age of 17. Oddly, there was another Tech HS student with the same first, middle and last name. In order to differentiate the two Betty Jean Deans, an “X” was added and she was identified as Betty Jean (X) Dean while attending Tech HS. She did secretarial work after high school until she married Donald William Baron in 1952. Betty was a homemaker and loving mother to four children. She was a devoted and wonderful caregiver to family and friends over her lifetime. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by parents, Walter Peyton Dean and Gladys Lucille (Supinger) Dean; husband Donald William Baron; son Dean Paul Baron; and partner J. Sidney Hays.

Betty is survived by her brother Jerry Bruce Dean (Gwen); daughters Susan Lynn Baron, Cynthia Ann Burton (Steve), Barbara Amy Webb (John); grandchildren Paul Michael Waltz (Ashley), Daniel Baron Waltz, Hannah Lorelle Waltz, Jacob Arthur Burton, Garrett Alan Swisher (Abby); great grandchildren Ivy Lula Waltz, Rhett Joel Swisher and Finch Michael Waltz.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 575 N Pennsylvania St, Indianapolis, IN 46204, in the Minton-Capehart federal building.

Visitation will be held 10:30-11am Monday December 16th at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis. Funeral services will begin there at 11am.
