Bettie C. (Bowen) Taylor-Henderson, affectionately known as Little Bettie and Bettie C, was born November 10, 1933 to the late Elzy Bowen and Betty E. Lewis-Bowen. On October 24, 2014, she departed this life at the home of her oldest daughter, Pamela Sibley, after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of her demise she was surrounded by her love ones. Bettie was born in Richmond, Indiana, where she attended Richmond Community Schools. After moving to Akron, Ohio where she spent the better part of her life, she return back to school at age 60 to earn a degree from the Wooster Hawkins Business/Nursing School. She retired in 2004, after many years of service with Heather Knoll of Tallmadge OH, as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Unwilling to retire completely, Bettie gave back to her community by serving proudly as a Foster Grand Parent for the Head Start Program in Ohio, and later in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she lived out the remainder of her life.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, late sisters, Anna Bell Speights, Geraldine Bowen, Flossie Bryne, Sue Carolyn McGruder and Callie Mae Williams; brothers, Alfred Bowen and Robert (Sonny) Bowen and infant brother, Paul Lester Bowen
She leaves to honor her memory a devoted and loving sister, Augusta Fowler, of Akron, Ohio; sons, Wilson Eugene Juny (Valerie) Taylor, Jacksonville, NC, Robert Douglas Taylor, Westlake OH, Jerry Lee Jr. (Charlene) Henderson, Akron OH; daughters Pamela Justine (Steve) Sibley, Indianapolis IN, Terrie Lynn (Fred) Jackson and Cheryl Denise (Robert) Sullivan all of Columbus OH, along with 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
