Bertha Louise Woods-Crandall, 88, Indianapolis, passed away May 2, 2018. Louise was born in Houston, TX on July 2, 1929 to the late Gorham W. and Vivian Wolf Woods. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from DePauw in 1950 and went on to get her Master’s degree from the University of Texas in Houston. She worked 44 years as a biochemist for Eli Lilly and Company before retiring in 1994. She was instrumental in developing antibiotics in the 1970s. Louise is survived by her husband of 45 years, Albert Edwin Crandall, brother and sister in law, Dr. Richard and Catherine Crandall, nephews, Dix Crandall, Robert L. Crandall, nieces, Phyllis Hedger, Dorothy Schuller, cousins, Jeanette Renick, Sandy Renick, Karen King, Pat Rivera, Linda Castor, Carolyn Webber, Clay Holland and their families, and friends, Tony and Peggy Lavagnino, and Mabel Easton. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10-12pm at North United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin there at 12pm. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple.
