Bertha A. Nixon

Bertha A. Nixon, 84 of Indianapolis, IN passed away on August 24, 2021. She was born on November 11, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Pete and Dorothy (Stokes) Bear, Sr. Bertha retired from the Wayne Township Schools working as a Custodian for 17 years retiring in 2001. She loved to play bingo, go to the casino, loved watching any type of sports on TV, she enjoyed playing Yahtzee, and in her younger days enjoyed bowling. Bertha was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Brenda (Jim) Fields, Debra Branam, Austin (Jessica) Nixon, Jr., Rhonda (Roy) Nixon-Arney, grandchildren, Jody (Tom) Riegel, Julie Reel, Jill Bailey Mcintire, Austin Nixon III, Amber Nixon, Tommy (Kelsey) Gregory, Josey (Zane) Deakin, Tiffany Gregory, Josh Arney, great grandchildren, Brittany Riegel, Tommy (Kortney) Riegel, Zackary (Demi) Loyd, Kylie Bailey, Cole (McKinsey) Bailey, Landen Posey, Killian Posey, Judah Posey, Carson Gregory, Gracelyn Gregory, Scarlett Nixon, and a great-great grandchild on the way, Kaia Lane Bailey, sisters, Cheryl (Mike) Bennett, Dorothy (Roy) Reynolds, and brother, James Chico (Sheila) Bear; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Bertha was preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, Junior Reel, and her brothers, Pete,Jr., Bob, Charles, Fred, and David Bear. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan Floral Park with her funeral service there Tuesday, August 31, 2021 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
