Bernette Semonne Girardot

Bernette S. Girardot, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on 9/5/25.

Born to Inez Kinsey and Bertram Girardot , she was their only child, who adored and inspired her to pursue knowledge at all costs.

Bernette attended schools in Ft. Wayne and Michigan.

After graduating from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a master’s degree in physical education, she moved to Indianapolis to teach Physical Education at Indianapolis Public Schools. She also coached Basketball. This was one of the most fulfilling career choices for her.

 During her long-time career as a P.E. teacher, she touched on the lives of thousands of students.

 Ms. Girardot’s impact on the minds and hearts of many is immeasurable.

She is survived by many friends who became her family.

Private service will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, at 11:30 am, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis, IN. 46250.
