Bernard J. 'Bud' Gohmann, Jr.

Bernard J. “Bud” Gohmann, Jr., age 79 of Indianapolis passed away on August 26, 2016. He was born October 15, 1936 in Indianapolis to Bernard J. Sr and Grace Opal Gabbard Gohmann who precede him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Louie Gohmann and sister, Rita Weber. Bud served in the US Army Security Agency, retired from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, served two terms as Marion County Clerk of the Court and three terms as Marion County Assessor.

Bud’s Government service spanned 40 years and included working for Richard Lugar as Mayor and Senator serving as the liaison between neighborhood groups and Mr. Lugar. He also served as the head of the Young Republican’s club, the head of the Marion County election board and was an active member of the Republican Party throughout his life. Bud was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all he met and spent countless hours serving the community. He was a long time member of St. Ann Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police and the Antelope Club.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki, children, John B. Gohmann, Edward (Stephanie) Gohmann, Marty Gohmann, Lisa (Mike) Carver, Rachel Gohmann, Erin (George) Ignas, and Chris (Amy) Meyerrose, 15 grandchildren (Mike, Drew, Reid, Luke, Melissa, Aaron (Kayla), Nick, Christine, Sarah, Allison, Natalie, Paisley, Adelaide, Emily, Payton) 2 great-grandchildren (Dylan and Cora) and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis and one hour prior to the funeral mass which will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S. Mooresville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 435 W Troy Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
