Bernard Junior Cole, age 75, of McCordsville, Indiana, passed away on July 17, 2015. He was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on January 16, 1940 to his parents, Bernard Leslie and Evelyn Louise (Simpson) Cole. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired early from the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked as a Postal Service Manager. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Janet. He volunteered at Community Hospital North and was a member of Geist Christian Church. He had also previously been an active member at Emerson Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.
Bernard loved his family and friends dearly. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Janet Gay (Miles) Cole, whom he married on May 21, 1961; a proud father to his daughters, Tina (husband, Jay) and Melissa (husband, Hugh) and doting grandfather of Matthew "Matt", Nick, Lauren, Andrew and Natalie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Evelyn Cole; brother, Charles Cole and sister, Donna Montgomery.
Friends may call from 4pm until 8pm, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Flanner and Buchanan- Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite). Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Geist Christian Church, 8550 Mud Creek Road, Indianapolis. Entombment with military honors being provided by the U.S. Air Force will immediately follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
