Bernadine Maners

August 31, 1925 — October 12, 2016

Bernadine Kugath Maners was born in Romulus, Michigan toCharles and Mary Jane Bower Kugath. Bernadine had 4 sisters Helen, Lenora, Geraldine, and twin Bernadettewho all proceeded her in death. “Dene”graduated from Romulus High School in 1944. She also was married to Marion Maners that November. He was deployed to Okinawa shortly after their marriage. On his return, they resided in Michigan for ashort time and returned to Marion’s home in Indianapolis. In 1958, the couple built their home andmoved in with their 3 children—Darrell, Charlene, and Dwayne.

Bernadine was involved with the Pike Township Volunteer FireDepartment as an axillary member for 25years.

Bernadine retired from Addison Wesley Book publishingcompany in 1988.

She took great joy in her grandchildren—Brian (Ashlee),Benjamin(Lauren) and Bradley(Lauren) LaPaugh, Jason(Ashley) andJeremy(Jess) Maners, Jessica ManersMiller (Nic) and David Peterson(Jen). Her admiration and her love for them was matched by their affection forher. She was also blessed with greatgrandchildren, Brianna and Bailey LaPaugh, Noah and Levi LaPaugh, FrancisLaPaugh, Kylie and Joey Maners, AbbyManers. and step great grandchildren Anna, Michael, Jacob Peterson and Kim andSpencer Rose.

After the death of her husband in 1990 Bernadine filled herdays with family, friends and BINGO and watching Nascar races.

Bernadine had family and friends that have had a special place in her heart. Barbara Ann Maners, Barbara Maners Golden,Sharlene Rose Maners, Gale Randall Henry, Jackie Mills, Jane Souders, Sharon and DaveParsley and many nieces and nephews.
